Painting of Munnar

This is from a photo reference taken in Munnar around 3 years back. While going through all the photos I found it and thought of trying this. Munnar is a beautiful hill station in Kerala.

While doing this after the first wash I didn't like it at all. Didn't feel like completing it. Stopped painting and kept in my drawer. After two days I thought let me finish it instead of leaving it half done. So I added few layer of glazing and some final dry strokes for suggestions. And when I look into the painting after done, felt it was not that bad what I was feeling at the first stage. I felt good that I completed.

Materials Used:
Paper : Chitrapat rough texture handmade paper
Colors : Viridian green, sap green, gamboge yellow and ultramarine blue and brunt siena.

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Painting !

Paintings inspiratations from Shivanasamudra trip

Waiting for customers for coracle ride

An old bridge

I visited to Shivanasamudra and Talakadu two weeks back. Though there was not much water in Shivanasamudra waterfalls but I still like the scenes around it. We came little down from that place and went for coracle ride. It was really nice.

Whenever I visit any new place I get so much inspirations to paint :) I always carry my sketching kit with me, but somehow I missed to sketch or paint. I think I have to improve on that.  But I make sure to click lot of pictures for my painting reference.

I know there is a lot of difference in painting on location and painting from a photo, but when I paint from photo of a place I visited I feel I am sitting in that place and I try to capture the mood what I experienced. I really enjoyed doing these paintings.

Hope you like them.
Happy paintings !!!

Rose is rose

Title : Rose is rose
Medium : watercolor on paper
Size : 15 x 11 inches

Flower is a most beautiful creations in the world. Each flower has different beauty and it should not be compare to other one.
When I paint flower, sometime I worry that I will be able to make it beautiful or not. Many times I fail and few time I succeed (not as beautiful as flower but I am satisfied). But what is important, with each failure I learnt something, which I have not if I didn't try.

This is painting of Yellow roses. I used mainly tree colours : yellow, green and brunt siena

Puskar Ghat

Puskar Ghat
Watercolor on paper
size : 22 x 15 inches

This is another painting from my Rajasthan series. This is a little complex subject for me. I always gets overwhelmed when I see so many objects in a landscape. But what I found is, it is really easy if you only see the shapes, light and shadows. That will make the things more easier. Hope you like this!

Thanks for visiting!

Rajasthan Series : Melody of life

Melody of Rajasthan
Watercolor on paper
Size : 15 x 22 inches

I took this photo during my visit to Puskar (Rajasthan). While waiting for my cab I saw this man standing with ravanhatta instrument. When I was taking out my camera and thinking of taking his photo he came to know that I want to take his photo. Then he came near to me and posed nicely.

It was mid day and very sunny day. What I likes about this the strong shadow in his face. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Visit with fellow artists

Last sunday I visited Vistar with my fellow pencil jammers, its a hub of  socio-cultural and environmental consciousness. Its a beautiful and peaceful place.  As soon as we entered the campus we met Fancoise, a lovely woman and an iconic doll maker. Her dolls are inspired from  Indians day to day life or based on social issues.  We all visited her doll exhibit. Each doll has a story to tell. She also shared her story behind making this iconic dolls.

I loved all the dolls, Each doll tells an untold story about issues which is quite common on our current society. Among them one doll took my attention, a woman with needle and cloth ("Burst of light"). I tried to capture it in my sketchbook. Made one quick sketch of it.

I made a sketchbook for plein air sketching/painting. What a beautiful place to start the painting in it :-)

One more water-colour sketch.

We had a lovely day Few photos taken during the visit

Hampi sketches

I had been to Hampi in the month of Dec 2015.  Its a beautiful historical place in northern Karnataka. It is the former capital of Vijyanagar Dynasty, which is now can be seen as ruins. It is one of the most beautiful place just with the ruins.

I made some sketches of Hampi after reaching home. I tried little differently. Used charcoal powder and compressed charcoal. Its very fun to do.

Thanks for visiting!
